cell toys

after much debate and looking i recently grabbed a new cell phone. it is a nifty little lg lotus.

yes, its the purple one.

yes it is awesome.

it is a comparable upgrade to my previous phone, the lg vx8300.

as it stands the 8300 is a nifty phone. you can stuff anything on the memory card and the phone will use it as if it were actually in the phone's resident memory.

the lotus has a little quirk that it wont actually let you use mp3s that are on the memory card as ringers. it simply treats them as media files to listen to, not ring tones. to get around this one needs to send the mp3s to the phone via a delightful text message. rumkin dot com has been quite useful for that.

in terms of software included it has a web browser.

sadly, this is a very sluggish bit of internet viewing pleasure. it was quickly replaced with opera mini. sadly i can only run their older version three. not the newer version four.

there was also a problem with the little carousel feature of the lotus. sure, its pretty and lets you spin images to get to applications and phone devices and settings, but it is sluggish as all hell. so it was kicked. that was interesting. i needed to get into the guts of the phone. luckily the gentlemen at the sprint store were kind enough to provide me with the particular information needed.

all i can say about that feature is that it spins.

it spins.

thus far i have received a little crap for it being pink. it simply looked better than the plain black version.

i have to go with the hotter option.

festivalities

after all photos have been uploaded i bring you the amazement of the texas renaissance festival. there are photos from her hieuness. and photos from friends.

the trip was an all day event with lots of fun and entertainment. the weekend we chose was their halloween weekend.

i feel somewhat sad as the first costume i saw upon entrance was pyramid head.

after that initial letdown the rest of the day was mighty fun.

much delicious food was eaten. there were also vast differences in costs per amount of food. $5 for two fish nuggets and a pile of chips or $11 for a half of a fish with a much larger pile of wedge style fries.

the second option was a much better deal.

i just really feel bad.

i didnt see a fat man with a wine stain on his white shirt.

i was a little let down.

belated burfday

the belated gift acquisition has come and gone. it form is that of a wii.

now i can keep up with the new titles.

well, the new titles on the wii.

not so much brickbox 360 or the monolith3.

i dont mean to speak ill of those two platforms. i just hear things. about xboxes bricking and the third playstation being huge.

oldener

so i had a birthday, that was pretty fun. saw the dynamo tie the dc united. it was a mighty fun game to watch.

lots of angry fans screaming at the ref any time a legal challenge brought a dynamo player to the ground.

i also had dinner with the hieuness. it was quite delicious.

skitchy also made a mighty hilarious site for my birthday. it is rather nsfw, so dont look at if you are afraid of the man.

all in all, a fun time.

work break

friday was i was able to have a mighty nice work break. an old friend was back in texas for his grandmother's funeral. as un-fun as that is, he and the skitch stopped by work for a bit. it made for a mighty nice work break. too bad i still had to roam around campus checking on kids. they still go crazy regardless of what i do.

hieu has stopped traveling for a little bit. she got back from the land of hello kitty and electronics unscathed. there were travels with munkie and samplings of local typhoons and earthquakes.

she found many fun things and brought back a few. like toe socks, and a little crab.

culinary delights

today was my first experience with previously the mentioned mre. tonight's menu consisted of cheese tortellini, applesauce, peanut butter, crackers, and chocolate fudge brownie with sweet tea and apple cider to drink.

yes, it is a vegeterian meal.

those little packets contain a surprisingly large amount of food.

the main downside is the fortified taste.

no matter what you eat, they want to make sure you do not get the scurvy.

the applesauce was so vitamin cish flavored it hurt to eat.

as i minch on this fudge brownie thing i must warn those out there to check the underside of the brownie. there is a fresh pax squished onto the underside.

the packet says do not eat. i believe it.

with a lot of activity these are a decent item to eat.

with the common sedentary american lifestyle they are a bit overkill.

i was just let down that this mre did not have a small vial of tabasco sauce.
